For some reason, I can no longer use this version of XNA. I get the error message:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at XNALara.Game.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.Run()
at XNALara.Program.Main(String[] args)

The thing where this now creates an xps.xps file is confusing :confused: its like you have to make 3 copies of 1 model just to be able to edit the armature or to edit something since the .mesh files don't get saved because there's an xps.xps file in the folders now. Was better when it just saved a .mesh file...the xps.xps is unnecessary.

The search/loading order are since long time ago
- xps.xps
- Generic_Item.mesh
- *.obj

LOL i did it...

It was like...
____________________________________
45 # bones
root hips
-1 (it was 44 so i erased the 44 and wrote -1)
*************************************
Then in the # meshes
_____________________________
0 (this one was -1 so i changed to 0)
0 0 0
20 # meshes
******************************

Actually i modified both 2nd lines, from the beggining and then the 2nd line above the # meshes zone, dunno if i did it as you told me but it works!! Already fixed 2 models and now mods show the armature/bones in Blender and now i can add a sword, different hair and even modify the mesh and give a bigger nose or ears to models : D THX A LOT!!

Perfect. This is what I means and say.
Thanks also for this english tutorial.

One step left:
- After exporting your model from Blender, rename the parents from this to bones ("root hips" and "root ground" back to the old values. (44 and -1)
- Or reparent this 2 bones inside Blender
- Or let make XPS a new "root ground" bone by loading the .mesh.ascii file
Now the model are again standing on the floor (ground plane)

Nicely done! these updated versions are making the use of Xnalara almost unnecessary now.

btw have you found a solution to the blender problem when some models doesnt load with armature?
Im a newbie you know, so i havent found a solution to this problem with certain models, ive tried to generate a generic item mesh and generic item ascii with newest XPS and still get no armature model in Blender (blender > import MeshAscii Ext 1.7 > generic_item.mesh > Model without armature)
I can send you one of the models with the problem so u can check it out :)

Normally it is sufficient to edit the .mesh.ascii file and change the value from the third line to -1 ;)
Then search for # meshes and change the value 2 lines above from -1 to 0

For a test model I am grateful.
